SELECTION OF ARCHITECTURE & INTERACTION PROJECTS
-
+ Platform of Future-Past [2022]
Architectural device and monitoring installation created for the HOW Art Museum in Shanghai (CN).
-
"The traces left by the comings and goings, those of the molecules of the exhibition and of the present moment had indeed been recorded, stored, and kept indefinitely on data servers, somewhere, in view of a utopian future, or past reconstitution. (...)"
-
Commissioned by HOW Art Museum (Shanghai), with the support of Pro Helvetia.
Exhibition during Beneath the Skin, Between the Machine at HOW Art Museum, 2022. Curator: Fu Liaoliao.

+ Atomized (algorithmic) Functioning [2018]
Algorithmic architectural and programmatic software based on live environmental data.
Exhibition during Environmental Devices (1997 - 2017).
-
Automated programmatic architecture based on real-time inputs of live environmental data (both digital and physical atmospheric components), their combination and their interpretation.
Based on "atomic" architectural elements and functions that re-aggregate autonomously, following the rules of best atmospheric match and minimum energy consumption.

+ Satellite Daylight Pavilion [2017]
Four videos develop a study for a public tea house in Hyde Park, London.
-
Based on two Satellite Daylights, virtually positioned and orbiting around the latitudes of London and Hope Bay in Antarctica, which emit artificial light.
These two environmental devices create daily and seasonal shifts in rhythms of day and night, thanks to which the Satellite Daylight Pavilion offers variations from the natural rhythms of day and night. It thus allowsthe development of parallel activities. Four videos develop the proposal.

+ Responsive Atmospheric Patio [2016]
Architectural proposal for a competition in Sofia, later turned into self-initiated research about "colliding functions".
-
This work develops living environments (architectural constructions) organized around three atmospherically conditioned and one unconditions patios. It uses these atmospheric conditions, both physical and digital, as programmtic rules to search for new aggregations of functions. The latter having being previously fragmented or atomized. The result is a "collision" creating new functional situations of physical-digital entanglements, and possibly as a result new spatial experiences.

+ Public Platform of Future-Past [2015‑2016]
Competition by invitation. 1st price and study mandate.
-
Public Platform of Future-Past is an observation platform planned - at the time of the competition (2014) - to last for approximately 10 years. This would be the time taken for five large new public projects to be realized directly in its surroundings (3 museums, a railway station and its public place, a new metro).
The platform, being installed directly in the geographical center of these constructions would document, monitor and archive the whole process of transformation. It would construct "architectural situations" directly out of the collected and processed data.

+ Uphonia [2014]
Competition by invitation, 2nd price. Proposal for an installation that consists in an discreetly integrated sound and temporal device in the walls of the renovated parliament of the State of Vaud (Switzerland). Only some audio jacks remains visible, emitting a faint white glow.
-
"(...). Uphonia, it would be as if many voices, accumulated over time within the precints of the Parliament could become audible simultaneously, whispered, combining themselves in the present. (...)"

-
+ Heterochrony [2012]
Architectural device and monitoring installation created for the 2012 Festival de la Cité Lausanne.
-
"Two distinct "presents" were observing each other, close to one another: the present of a public park with its "scene", its "bar", its "festival-goers" and the present of a second place, the footbridge or "almost archeological" path that overlooked the whole, allowing to openly structure, observe, sense and record it. (...)"

With the support of ECA and PCM Echafaudages SA.
Exhibition at the Festival de la Cité Lausanne (Lausanne, Switzerland), 2012.

-
+ Gradientizer [2012]
Architectural proposal for the New Planetarium and Natural Sciences Center in Lausanne (Switzerland). Work in collaboration with AMID.cero9.
-
Gradientizer is an architecture that articulates light, that pervades into the existing luminous gradients and albedos of the landscape, that transforms them on site, in plan and in section and which creates "dark poles", real attractors of the program: Planetarium, Solar room, Sky observation decks. A forgotten atmosphere, almost unknown but monitored nevertheless.

+ I-Weather as Deep Space Public Lighting [2010]
Installation created for the 2010 01SJ biennal: Build your Own World, curator: Steve Dietz (San Jose, USA).
-
I-Weather as Deep Space Public Lighting is an architectural installation which proposes a public lighting for the deterrotrialized spaces. This lighting based on the artificial climate I-Weather has the ability to modify human metabolism, in particular its rate of melatonin.
-
With the support of Swissnex San Francisco and Pro Helvetia.
Exhibition at the 01SJ Biennial (San Francisco Bay Area), 2010.

+ Migrating Days (boreal / austral) [2009]
Invited competition for Marseille-Provence 2013 (European Capital of Culture).
-
Transformation of the South façade of the Maison Diamantée in Marseille. Transfer of part of the climatic conditions of a distant day. Creation of a microclimate in the direction of Place Jules Verne.
-
Fund: City of Marseille.

-
+ Daylight [2009]
Project for a monumental installation at the Rolex Learning Center, built by Sanaa on the campus of the Swiss Institute of Technology (Lausanne, Switzerland).
-
Daylight triggers modifications in spatial uses according to variations of light emitted by thousands of LED spots representing the Earth territory between the 40th and the 60th parallel north.
-
Fund: Nestlé Switzerland.

-
+ Sliding Presence Pavilion [2008]
Proposition for The Sentient City, an architecture competition organized by The Architectural League Foundation (New York, USA).
-
Sliding Presence Pavilion is an architectural installation composed by automated elements which behaves according to displaced rules, both in time and space. Open-closed spaces with variable functions, behavioral architecture which links local presence with global data mining.

-
+ Tower of Atmospheric Relations [2008]
Proposition for the Climate Clock Initiative in San Jose (USA), May 2008.
-
Tower of Atmospheric Relations is an enclosed volume of air divided into twelve different sub-volumes which combines natural atmospheric exchanches and artificial air-conditionned space. Sensors analyze the climatic conditions of each subvolume (heat, humidity, CO2, etc.). This information is related to weather stations data all over the Earth.

+ Rhizoreality.mu Software [1999‑2008]
Rhizoreality.mu is a software framework, developed by fabric | ch since 1999 to support and help the creation of experimental and applied projects where space is not anymore a simple given environment (material, localized in time and place within a stable cultural context), but rather a complex and instable environment in which digital and physical dimensions are interconnected.
